Temporary accommodation (upon arrival)

If you do not have a place to live in Norway, you can apply to the Police or to the places of registration for temporary accommodation. It can be a hotel (or something similar) or an indoor camp (Råde). The first transit accommodation is intended for a short-term period only, until your registration process and logistical issues are completed.

After completing the registration process, you will be moved to a new, but still temporary accommodation (mottak). It can be anywhere in Norway. The time it takes to move to your new temporary accommodation (mottak) will depend on where it is located, and it can be done by plane, bus or train. Temporary accommodation facilities are also designed for many people, but here, too, families will be accommodated together in one room or space. The type of housing varies from place to place. In some places of accommodation, 4 meals a day will be offered, and in others, residents will be able to prepare their own meals. In this case, you will be given money to buy food.
