- You make a request to the municipality and explore the possibilities of an agreed self-settlement (avtalt selvbosetting). Learn the criteria for renting a home.
- If the answer is yes, you are looking for rental housing in the private sector, with the specified communal criteria.
- At the same time, you should inform the mottak employee in charge of accommodation (bosettingsansvarlig) as soon as possible that you want to find private accommodation in a particular municipality.
- You find an apartment and draw up a rental contract. The contract must be unsigned.
- Write an application to the municipality for an agreed self-settlement, attach an unsigned rental contract, as well as a copy of the UDI decision to grant you a residence permit and other necessary documents.
- If all the formalities are met, the commune sends a request to IMDi and coordinates your placement with IMDi.
- If IMDi agrees on the settlement with the municipality, the municipality decides whether to approve your application.
- You sign a rental contract.
- You eventually move to a commune.
